Privacy Policy
This page explains what Hootora collects, why, and how you stay in control of your child's data.
What we collect
- Photos, PDFs and notes of schoolwork that you upload.
- Your child's spoken answers during a revision session.
- Parent account details, such as your email address, and the child details you enter (name, age, class).
Why we collect it
Only to build your child's revision sessions and the progress summaries you see.
Parental consent
A parent creates the account and starts every session. Children do not sign up or use Hootora on their own.
How long we keep photos and voice recordings
Schoolwork photos, PDFs and notes are kept in your child's saved schoolwork until you remove them or delete the child. When an account is deleted, its data is removed within 30 days. Voice answers are sent for transcription during the session and are not stored as recordings. Parent account data is kept until the parent deletes the account; payment records are kept as long as tax law requires.
Where data is stored and who can access it
Data is stored with our cloud provider in the Asia Pacific (Singapore) region. Only you can see your children's profiles, schoolwork and progress. A small Hootora team can access account data only to give support, fix problems or prevent misuse. We use these trusted service providers, only for the purposes listed:
- Cloud hosting and database — storing your account and saved schoolwork.
- AI services — reading uploaded schoolwork, writing questions, Ora's voice and understanding spoken answers. They do not use your data to train their models.
- Razorpay — processing payments. We never see or store your card or UPI details.
- Email delivery — sending session summaries, digests and account emails.
We never sell your data or show ads to children.
How to delete your child's data
Open My children, tap Delete on your child's card and confirm. This removes the child profile and their revision history. You can also remove individual saved schoolwork from your child's gallery, or email privacy@hootora.com to ask us to delete it.
